Wine Advocate Review
Composed of 100% Syrah aged 21 months in 31% new French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, the deep garnet-purple colored 2014 Syrah Outer Limits gives up pronounced black cherry cordial, blackberry pie and blueberry compote scents with hints of smoky bacon, star anise, garrigue, dried herbs and tilled soil. Full-bodied with firm, rounded tannins and tons of freshness, the palate is packed with spicy black fruits, finishing long and peppery. Drink now-2027.
Wine Tasting Notes
Black and blue fruits drive the aroma initially in this Sonoma Coast Syrah, with slight gamy characters, garrigue, blond tobacco and lilac aromas. Tasting the wine one finds ripe blueberry and black currant flavors, and tannins that express the wine's mountaintop sourcing. This dense and spicy Syrah was crafted in a style reminiscent of the great wines of the Northern Rhone Valley.
