VinoUS Media Review
The 2018 Covert Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label is a powerful, packed wine that captures all of the intense minerality and savoriness of Coombsville. Inky dark fruit, gravel, spice, menthol and bittersweet chocolate all build in the glass. This is an especially brooding, somber wine. It will be interesting to see what time in bottle brings. Best of all, the 2018 is a fabulous value within the realm of high-end Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. (by Antonio Galloni on December 2020)
Wine Tasting Notes
The landmark vintage delivers rich, sleek Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in its full glory. The nose promises blackcurrant aromas with notes of damp earth, wild myrtle and a hint of volcanic minerality. On the palate, these aromatics expand into a kaleidoscope of juicy black and purple berries, swirling black raspberries with boysenberries and black cherries, and warm notes of cedar and tobacco. Smooth, lithe tannins support the abundant fruit with graphite minerality, and guide the wine into an extraordinarily long finish of sweet clove, blackberries and fresh brown sugar.
