Wine Advocate Review Rated 93 Sourced from Chenin Blanc vines planted in 1967, with natural wild yeast fermentation, and raised in about 85% new oak, the flagship 2009 The FMC has a beautifully defined, intoxicating bouquet with lemon curd, frangipane, almond and just a touch of nutmeg. The palate has a rounded, waxy texture with wonderful harmony and precision. There are subtle flavors of dried apricot, brioche, vanilla, a touch of honey (perhaps a little botrytis) and a hint of spice. Seductive, harmonious and very focussed, The FMC is a sublime expression of South African Chenin Blanc. Drink now-2020.
Wine Enthusiast Review Rated 92 Ripe notes of red apple, honeydew, orange blossom and a touch of nuttiness are all augmented by a backdrop of gorgeous assorted wild flowers, adding complexity and liveliness to the bouquet and lush, round palate. Dried apricot drizzled with honey and gingery spice unfold on the close, but balanced acidity keeps the long finish mouthwatering and bright. Drink now-2014.
Wine Tasting Notes Full, rich, remarkable finesse. Palate showing vanilla and honey flavors and a forever finish. The pinnacle of what we consider to be the finest expression of the grapes of this varietal - an icon chenin, a challenge to the world!
