Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine Review 71% Cabernet Sauvignon; 25% Merlot; 2% Malbec; 2% Petit Verdot. Grown in the heart of the West Rutherford Bench, this rich, complex, deeply cast wine follows the highly ripe line that it has adopted in previous vintages as well. And, if that ripeness costs it a shot at the highest rating in these pages, the wine still has near perfect focus and an enormous amount of come-hither richness to its credit. It wants time to soften, and it certainly has the right stuff to grow in the bottle.
Wine Tasting Notes This wine is a beautiful deep ruby-red color. Initial aromas of black olive, pomegranate and watermelon rind are backed by a tarry note. They open to concentrated chocolate fudge, rum raisin, butterscotch and cedar. On the palate, there is surprising elegance for such youth. Fine-grained tannins in the mouth combine with cassis, toffee and plum-pie flavors interspersed with rosemary and lavender. The finish is long and luxurious.
